On one of my websites I have received the following question from one of my readers:
I love my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, but dealing with getting media and files to and from it always feels slow and cumbersome. Are there any apps or tools that make the process of sharing files with a Windows PC easier and if not, why not? This seems to be an area of Android that is severely lacking in comparison to other platforms.
Because some other people might also encounter a similar situation, I will try to answer here:
The point you offer makes sense when Android OS is looked at quickly. It can indeed seem complicated to move media to and from a phone, but there is much more to the story. Android is incredibly flexible and because of this, there are multiple solutions available that let you quickly and easily manage media with your phone. Admittedly, some of the boxed solutions that come with Android phones could be better, such as Samsung Kies, but there are many alternatives that will greatly increase your efficiency if you take the time to get to know them. We will offer three of the best for you to explore, but don't be afraid to experiment with the myriad of other apps and services available via the Google Play store and the web. Android, as we said, offers so much flexibility that developers are able to build any service they like and interact with an Android phone in any way. Android may appear to be clunky in this area at first glance, but the options beneath the first look truly are world class and designed to cater for every individual.
Some other important tips:
The king of cloud services. Dropbox is hugely successful and with good reason. Install the free app on your Android phone and the equivalent desktop app and everything you share with it will be on both devices in an instant. It doesn't get any better than this as far as cloud computing goes:

Awesome Drop. Imagine being able to simply drag files to a place on the web on your desktop PC and having them magically appear on your Android phone. That's exactly what Awesome Drop does and it is completely free. Dealing with media on Android I just got incredibly easy.
